April 8th -10 mile TT (Oxford)

This year we hosted the BUCS 10 championships. The choice of the fast H10/17r course meant a great opportunity to ride PBs. Our riders certainly fulfilled on this front and also came away with strong positions in the team rankings. Our men were the 4th team (just 8 seconds behind Bristol who took bronze) and our duo of Tamara Davenne and Renee Haver both put in excellent rides to seal the team silver medal. A fantastic result and some consolation for Tamara who was 4th individually, yet again.

Matt gets aero

For the 25 we traveled over to Cambridge to have a go at some of the flat roads around that part of the country. Our riders rode well, with several of us setting new PBs for the distance. Both our men and women placed 4th overall. We are incredibly proud to see just how far the club has developed in the last two years. When we raced there in 2015 we only had a single rider make it under an hour, compared to 6 riders going under an hour, 2 men in the top 20, and 2 women in the top 10 in a highly competitive field! We’re looking forward to continuing this progress next year, where team medals will be an obvious goal.

April 29th – 3up Team Time Trial (Bath)

For many of us at OUCC our memories of riding the BUCS TTT involve a series of wrong turns, faulty bikes and riders getting dropped. The fact that this year all four of our teams managed to get round the course together and without any major hiccups is a success in itself. Our quickest men’s team had only ridden together once before but still put in a very competitive time, finishing 90 seconds down on the winners.
