It’s been a massive weekend for racing, with the OUCC #BLUETRAIN taking the cues from the Pro peloton and deciding this weekend was really the start of the season. We had MTB Varsity, 10 mile Time Trials, Crits, and 25 mile Hardrider Time Trials. OUCC bringing home some fantastic results to boot.

MTB Varsity we took the Women’s race and the Men’s fastest time but couldn’t quite get the group time for the Men’s trophy as well. Massive effort from all involved and congratulations for the win!

On Saturday we had a bunch of riders head over to Dalton Barracks for the third round of the Outdoor Traders Race Team Winter Crit series. A bunch of our riders had tasted racing for the first time with this series so knew what they were doing by this point. Jack Brent got up for 2nd in the Men’s 4th Cat, with Tamara taking it easy to only come 3rd this week.

Saturday afternoon a bunch of squad riders headed over to a wet and windy 10 mile Time Trial on the A4 put on by Newbury Road Club. Sketchy conditions meant finishing in one piece was a major achievement but Tri Club interloper David Pearson put on a masterclass to take the fastest time on the day with a strong 21.31, laying down a challenge for cuppers this weekend and BUCS 10 up ahead.

See? so much more fun without swimming beforehand.

Finally on Sunday was time to get involved in the traditional early season Hardriders. Some great times were laid down at the Andover Wheelers 24 mile TT by all members of the road squad who showed up, highlighted by a fantastic top 10 from Presdient Bryn Davies, looking incredibly aero on the way as well.

Plenty of riders looking strong before Cuppers this weekend! Looking forward to more to come!

Massive thanks to Outdoor Traders, Andover Wheelers, Newbury RC, and Gorrick Spring series for putting on such great races.
