The Lapierre White Roads Classic was run on Sunday, with a few of us tagging along to help out with running the event, including the very important job of handing out the Prosecco!
The course was all set up and ready for the riders to attack, but the weather decided to close in on us. While the rain stayed away for the first 5 finishers, it started to drizzle and then got steadily heavier as the rest of the field came in. Lots of muddy marks and backsides showing that the combination of rain and gravel roads can be challenging, to put it mildly! Lots of smiles all around though and it looks like everyone had a great time of it, despite a few hiccups and plenty of punctures.
Overall the day went very well despite the less than ideal weather, and we look forward to helping run this event again next year. Thanks to Lapierre for helping the event, and CycleClassics for running everything.
