First race: I did a cyclocross race when I was about 13 before I had a road bike or had really got into cycling. I rode on a mountain bike and crashed out; I’ve never ridden cross since.

Best result: 1st at a Dalton Crit
Longest ride: 208 Km for York to Bridlington, and back
Favourite ride food: Mrs Crimble’s Jam sponge

First race you saw in person: The 2005 Otley road race, won by Mark Cavendish
Best ‘I was there’ cycling moment: The Yorkshire Grand Depart, when the tour came within walking distance of my house.
